Learn to Swim Program 

2017 BLOCK DATES 

BLOCK 1: Monday 13th February to Saturday 8th July.
BLOCK 2: Monday 24th July to Saturday 16th December.
No Scheduled classes during School Holidays and Public Holidays



Our Learn to Swim Program will introduce your child to the aquatic environment through a variety of correct swimming progressions and levels. 
Children are grouped according to their current swimming ability and age.
Our Pre-School classes have 3 or 4 students per class.
Our After School classes average 4 students, however we can have up to 5 students in our higher levels.

Deep water Survival Skills, Entries, Diving, Tumble Turns are all included in our programs.
During Blocks 1 and 2 we have a specific Water Safety Awareness week. 
Students participate and learn valuable Life Saving skills in and around water. Goggles and caps are not worn during our Water Safety Week.
Our experienced Accredited Austswim Teachers have been trained to deliver quality Learn to swim lessons in a happy, safe, positive learning environment.

Pre-School Learn to Swim Class Times 
for children 3 to 5 years not attending full-time School

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 9.00am to 11.30am
Wednesday and Friday:  1.00pm to 3.30pm
Saturday: 9.00am to 12.00noon
*30 minute lessons available within these times


School Age Learn to Swim Class Times
for children attending full-time school

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 3.30pm to 6.00pm  
Wednesday: 3.30pm to 6.00pm  
Friday: 3.30pm to 5.30pm 
Saturday: 9.00am to 12.00noon
*30 minute lessons available within these times


Advanced Learn to Swim & Fitness Squad 

Advanced Learn to Swim 45min
Tuesday and Thursday: 3.30. 4.15 and 5.00pm
Fitness Squad Sessions 60min
Tuesday and Thursday: 6.00pm to 7.00pm
   

 

Lesson and Squad Prices:

30min Learn to Swim Lesson: $15.50 per lesson.
45min Advance Learn to Swim and 60min Squad: $16.50 per session.

All enrolments are invoiced and taken for set block depending on Public Holidays.
No scheduled lessons during School Holidays and on any Public Holiday. Invoices exclude all holidays.

Our Beginner Levels are designed to set the foundations and prepare your child to learn correct stroke development.
Our focus is to teach your child Water Confidence by having fun in the water, Balance and Free Movement, Buoyancy, Aquatic pop-up breathing,  correct kicking,  beginner Propulsion, beginner Freestyle and Backstroke development, confident swimming in deep water and Basic Water Safety.

Children must have achieved Buoyancy, good Body Position, Kicking, relaxed aquatic yo yo pop-up breathing, competent long "Underarm"(Super Dog Paddle), beginner development of Freestyle and Backstroke arms and be confident to swim in and around deep water before progressing into our Intermediate Levels

Our Intermediate Levels
Our focus is to teach children the correct stroke progressions for: Freestyle, Backstroke, Survival Backstroke and Breaststroke.
Children will  learn correct Kicking and Breathing patterns, how to Dive, safe Deep Water Entries, Treading Water and important
Survival Skills and Water Safety knowledge.

Our Advanced Levels 
Our Focus is to teach Scissor kick, Sidestroke, Butterfly and correct and improve all learnt strokes.
Strokes will be tidied up and fitness improved through stroke drills and multiple lap swimming. Survival strokes will be used as a recovery stroke and children will learn advanced Deep Water Survival skills as well as correct starts and turns for all competitive strokes.

  • Multiple laps of Freestyle and Backstroke
  • Increase distance for Breaststroke with correct timing
  • Introduce Scissor kick
  • Introduce Tumble turn
  • 5minute Survival Swim (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke)
  • Racing Dive

Children from a Level 6 have the opportunity to either stay in a 30minute lesson or transition into our 45minute Advanced Learn to Swim program.
Our 60minute Squad is the final stage for children who wish to keep swimming in a fun
non-competitive Squad environment.

45 minute Advanced Learn to Swim

Great session for children to improve and strengthen strokes while developing a love of 'mini' Squad swimming in a relaxed no pressure environment. Competitive and Survival strokes are included in these sessions. Children must be able to swim 25m Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke efficiently and correctly to qualify.

 

60 minute Junior Fitness Squad

A faster paced Squad with less rests in between laps. Emphasis is on continuous lap swimming, drills, diving and correct starts and turns while improving strength and stamina. Individual stroke correction is given during all Squad sessions.
Our 60 minute Fitness Squads are a great transition from 45minute Learn to Swim to Club swimming.

Inexpensive outing and great for the kids to practice and show Mum and Dad all the tricks they have learnt in their weekly Learn to Swim Lesson! FREE PARKING and NO KIOSK!

School Holiday Learn to Swim Program

19th to 14th July 2017 (5 sessions)

2nd to 6th October 2017 (5 sessions)


This program is a great way for children to learn, consolidate and advance their individual swimming skills.
Classes commence at 2.30pm daily and run every 30 minutes. 
Small class numbers and same Instructor for duration of program.

Water Safety Week

Water Safety Week is the last week for Blocks 1 and 2.
Our focus is to educate the children on Survival Skills, Boat Safety, swimming in Dams, Rivers and the Sea. Children also have the opportunity to experience what it feels like to swim with clothes on and how to perform safe rescues. Important life skills are learnt during this week in our fun engaging Water Safety circuit. We encourage no swim caps and goggles to be worn.
